چکیده

We present a planar agent-based flocking model with a distance-dependent communication weight. We derive a sufficient condition for the asymptotic flocking in terms of the initial spatial and heading-angle diameters and a communication weight. For this, we employ differential inequalities for the spatial and phase diameters together with the Lyapunov functional approach. When the diameter of the agent’s initial heading-angles is sufficiently small, we show that the diameter of the heading-angles converges to the average value of the initial heading-angles exponentially fast. As an application of flocking estimates, we also show that the Kuramoto model with a connected communication topology on the regular lattice Z for identical oscillators exhibits a complete-phase-frequency synchronization, when coupled oscillators are initially distributed on the half circle. Local information maximisation creates emergent flocking behavior

The three boids rules of alignment, separation and cohesion, introduced by Reynolds to recreate flocking behaviour have become a well known standard to create swarm behaviour. In this paper we want to demonstrate how similar flocking behaviour can be created by a local, agent based model, following a principle of information maximisation. The basis for our model is an extension of Vergassola’s ...

Real Time Movement Cooredination Technique Based on Flocking Behaviour for Multiple Mobile Robots System

The emergent behaviour of a multiagent system depends on the component agents and how they interact. A critical part of interaction between agents is communication. This paper presents a multi-agent communication model for physical moving agents, robots. The scope of the paper emphasises the interaction relationships between individual components in multi-agents system that results in economica...

How birds fly together: Long-range order in a two-dimensional dynamical XY model

We propose a non-equilibrium continuum dynamical model for the collective motion of large groups of biological organisms (e.g., flocks of birds, slime molds, etc.) Our model becomes highly non-trivial, and different from the equilibrium model, for d < dc = 4; nonetheless, we are able to determine its scaling exponents exactly in d = 2, and show that, unlike equilibrium systems, our model exhibi...

Animal Flocks as Natural and Dynamic Spatial Clues in Adventure Video-games

—This paper proposes the use of animal flocks to naturally provide spatial clues in adventure video-games. This approach complements the so far proposed mechanisms to support navigation in virtual worlds, addressing particular conditions that the previous approaches do not cover. The proposed model is natural and peripheral. Moreover, it does not limit the player freedom, it is adequate for dyn...

Survey of Flocking Algorithms in Multi-agent Systems

Flocking behaviour in Multi-agent Systems (MAS) has attracted tremendous attention amongst researchers in the recent past due to its potential applications in various fields where distributed work environment is desired. The flocking algorithms have the potential to introduce self-organizing, self-healing and selfconfiguring capabilities in the functioning of a distributed system. The flocking ...
